Walking in Mallorca is a fantastic experience. Away from the bay of Palma, Mallorca is a beautiful unspoilt island, offering opportunities for gentle coastal walks as well as more energetic walks in the hills and mountains. The landscape offers treasures, such as medieval villages and spectacular views over the Mediterranean coastline. Flora and fauna abound. In April our holiday will be based at the Hotel Marina, a 2 star privately-owned friendly hotel in Port de Soller. In October our holiday is a two centre holiday with 2 leaders. We spend 4 nights in Port de Soller and 3 nights in the fabulous monastery at Lluc in the mountains. We travel in April and October when it is warm but not too hot for walking. The average maximum daily temperature is 19 in April and 23 in October. It is a little cooler in the mountains. It is generally sunny, ranging from an average of 7 hours in April and October.

From Palma we transfer to Puerto de Soller. Depending on the time of the flight this may be by taxi, express bus or train. The train journey crosses the beautiful Tramuntana mountain range from Palma to Soller and connects with the tram to the port. Walks from Port de Soller take in coastal paths, the pilgrim steps as well as easier village walks or more challenging mountain walks. When the holiday is based in Port de Soller, you have a free day to laze by the pool or on the beach, visit Palma or Valdemosa or explore Soller or one of the neighbouring villages and the port.

From Lluc monastery we can reach the highest accessible peak on the island, Massenella and climb Tomir. But there are easy options too and those opting for the easier walking can also visit the market at Inca before the afternoon walk on market day.

The accommodation at the monastery is basic but the rooms have en suite facilities and the location is wonderful. The mountain region around Lluc is unspoilt and tranquil and here we take in the peaks of Tomir and Massenella. The week long holiday involves 5 days of walking. You can take a day off to laze by the pool or on the beach at Puerto de Soller or explore on your own if you wish. Walks are around 5 to 7 hours.
