Prague is one of Europe's most visually evocative cities and a great destination for photographers!

Prague might have been created in a fairy-tale. The city of a hundred towers and spires, Prague sits amid the gentle landscapes of the Bohemian plateau, straddling the Vltava, the Czech Republic's longest river. On a hill above the western bank of the river sits Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, which give the city its famous skyline. Between the castle and the river is Mala Strana, the 13th Century 'Lesser (or little) Quarter', with its narrow streets. This picturesque baroque district is, not surprisingly, much in demand as a film location. The landmark Charles Bridge, lined by some 30 statues, links the Mala Strana to the Stare Mesto (Old Town). The Old Town contains a maze of Gothic and Baroque streets, surrounding the huge Old Town Square, with its fascinating Astronomical Clock. To the north is Josefov, the former Jewish ghetto, with its old synagogues and Europe's oldest surviving Jewish cemetery. Nove Mesto the 'New Town', new in the 14th century, that is - lies to the east and south with the broad 750m long boulevade of Wenceslas Square at its centre.

The historic centre of Prague has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. There is only one way to appreciate the great historical, architectural and cultural influence of this city - and that is on foot - with a camera in your hand. Prague really is one of Europe's most visually evocative cities - its charm, beauty, romantic colours, ancient cobbled streets, statues, towers and spires make it a great destination for photographers!

Our 4 star Hotel Roma is located in the historic centre of Prague in the Mala Strana district, near the castle and within easy walking distance of many of the photographic opportunities Prague has to offer. On foot it is just 5 minutes from Charles Bridge and 10 minutes from The Old Square. We will be able to hop on and off the trams too. Accommodation is in twin rooms (some single rooms are available with a supplement of £150) and all rooms have a private bathroom with hairdryer and are equipped with air conditioning, heating, safe, satellite TV, direct dial telephone and internet point.

The trip is open to all photographers, however it is particularly designed for those just starting out with their digital or film SLR or those wanting to improve their skills with their SLR camera. We will make the most of the numerous photographic opportunities that Prague offers. You will spend the majority of each day taking pictures and Steve will be on hand to offer tuition in the form of in-the-field talks, demonstrations, one-to-ones, review sessions and discussions.

You can learn about: Camera functions and handling; Composition; Planning a shot/location; Exposures; Apertures; Shutter speeds; Depth of Field, Using Filters and more!

Group size is limited to 8-10. Small groups mean that you will get the best out of the location and you will receive the personal attention you need to learn at your own pace. If you would like to be accompanied by a non-photographic partner, please contact us to discuss arrangements and prices.

What to Bring: SLR camera, Digital or Film (plus memory cards or film) and warm, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear. The following would also be an advantage: Tripod, and a Cable release.

Is this for me?

SLR cameras are most appropriate and the trip is ideal for those who wish to learn how to be more creative with their cameras.
